Nevada Northern No. 40 is a 4-6-0 "Ten Wheeler" type LOCOMOTIVE which was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA in July 1910 for the Nevada Northern Railway Company.

THE ENGINE SERVED AS A PASSENGER LOCOMOTIVE THROUGH ITS ORIGINAL RUN BEFORE BEING RETIRED BY THE RAILROAD IN 1941. AFTER BEING USED IN THE COMPANY'S 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, THE ENGINE WAS PUT ASIDE IN THE ELY SHED ALONG WITH REMAINING PASSENGER EQUIPMENT BEFORE BEING DONATED TO THE CITY OF ELY ALONG WITH ALL FORMER EQUIPMENT AND THE ENTIRE EAST ELY YARD. THE ENGINE OPERATED ALONGSIDE 93 AND 81 ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL 2020, WHERE THE ENGINE WAS PULLED ASIDE FOR ITS MANDATED 15 YEAR fda inspection. the engine is currently out of service due to this but is preserved.
